BIBLE - DISCIPLESHIP - MISSION

BDM1: Feb – July, BDM 2: Sept – Dec

Take the time to discover the true reality of what it means to experience the person of Christ in your life. We don’t simply fill our heads with information but we engage in transformation! And we don’t do it alone, we live in community together and engage in daily discipleship. Faith in action here at Capernwray prepares for a life in Christ wherever He may take you! Let the life of Jesus shine through you so that this world can see God’s power in action.
BDM runs twice a year, our 20 week programme runs from early February to early July and our 12 week programme runs from mid September to early December. The courses are complete in themselves and so can be taken on their own or joined with each other or our Aussie Road Trip in any order.

BIBLE

Students will be encouraged to have a strong confidence in the Word of God as authentic, reliable and clearly life-related. This will come through the quality teaching in class but also personal study, research and reflection. We cover some Bible books in reasonable depth (Old and New Testaments), Apologetics, Biblical Overviews as well as teach students how to study Biblical passages. We want each student to leave Capernwray confident and with a strong conviction that the Bible is the Word of God

How is this done?

  • Students will attend approximately 12 x 45min lectures per week
  • Weekly assignments (Prepare a Bible Study, write a devotional talk, memorization, passage summaries)
  • Lectures are presented by resident faculty and guest lecturers from around the world. These teachers are involved in Torchbearers International and various other ministries. Guest lecturers typically spend a week a the school covering a particular topic and are available to speak with students out side of lecture times.

DISCIPLESHIP

Students are challenged to think clearly and prayerfully about what it means to have Christ at the centre of their lives – which is discipleship. Being a real Christian has radical implications which are very demanding but actually provide the most fulfilling way to live. We try to build strong personal relationships with students through small group times, one to one discipleship times and social interaction (eg we invite small groups of students into our homes, go out for coffee etc).

MISSION

We give students many opportunities to express their faith out into the Christian and non-Christian community. As Christians we are called to be ‘salt’ and ‘light’ to a confused and frustrated world. We give specific training and opportunities for students to develop their ministry skills. Students are assigned a weekly ministry which include, youth groups, school scripture, community service, and nursing homes. They also spend a week serving in a church locally or regionally.

Winter Bible School

INVEST IN 6 WEEKS WITH JESUS

Winter Bible School is a great opportunity to study God’s Word and grow in your personal relationship with the Lord in the beautiful campus and surroundings of Capernwray Bible School. It is a time of real fellowship and encouragement in your walk with Christ.

EACH WEEK IS STAND ALONE

While it is desirable for people to attend for the whole 6 weeks the course is designed so that people can attend an individual week or as many weeks as you can.

Specific books or topics will be covered each week. Covering topics such as New Testament or Old Testament overview, Apologetics, Prayer, Holy Spirit etc. There will also be other classes and small groups through out the week.

EXPERIENCE GOD IN COMMUNITY

The week course runs from Sunday tea to Friday lunch. For those staying for multiple weeks week-end accommodation and meals are included in the cost.

STUDENTS WANTING TO ATTEND MUST BE 21 YRS OR OVER

This course is particularly designed for mature people wanting to take time out to study God’s word in a more focused way than possible in every day life. There will be no assignments (other than recommended readings).

LEADERSHIP - INTERNSHIP - TRAINING

Putting Lessons into Practice

TAKING IT TO THE NEXT LEVEL… (2nd year course)

We offer 8 weeks of further Biblical Studies and practical training with the option of taking a placement in a Church or Ministry somewhere in Australia for 12 weeks. Then a week back at Capernwray for review and reflection.

The idea behind LIT is that our students will take the extra step into their training and leave with significant practical experience of ministry. The placement is unique to each student, you could be a youth leader in a Church or on an evangelistic mission team. The options are endless.

This course is designed for students who have completed previous studies at a Torchbearers centre or other Bible School.
